The Carrabasset Clayworks studio overlooks the Carrabassett River in the summer and remains within hearing range of it during the winter. The shine and sparkle of the river running over the rocky rapids is reflected in many of the glazes used on the pottery.
My goal is to produce usable art, be it a large centerpiece platter, a bud vase, or anything inbetween. My favorite is the perfect mug. A mug is surprisingly intimate. In the making it is handled many times and great care results in a handle that fits the hand perfectly. The user also handles the mug frequently, cradling it while working, staring at it while lost in thought, rubbing a favorite part of the design.
I generally have a number of pieces available for sale and am always able to accomodate special orders, especially for large progects such as place settings and for special special projects such as urns for the remains of beloved pets.
